Internal Ferry Services

The fare tables for travelling on internal ferry services (between the Shetland mainland and Bressay, Yell, Unst, Fetlar, Whalsay, Foula, Fair Isle, Skerries and Papa Stour) can be found here.

Multi-journey discount tickets are available to purchase on board each of the ferries or online. To purchase online, click here.

Shetland residents holding a National Entitlement Card (bus pass with the Clickimin Broch on the reverse) and a Blue Badge (disabled parking badge) will be exempt from the vehicle tariff on internal ferry services. Both cards must be valid and handed to ferry staff for checking and recording. To check if you are entitled to a National Entitlement Card, click here. Local Bus Services

Holders of a National Entitlement Card (bus pass) are entitled to free bus travel anywhere in Scotland. National Entitlement Cards are available for 16-18 year olds, those who have reached the age of 60 years, full time volunteers up to the age of 25 years and those with a disability. Regular passengers on local bus services can purchase a top up card on board the bus. The top up cards act like a payment card when money has been loaded on to them. This can also be done on board the bus. The top up card attracts a 20% discount on normal adult fares.

Children up to the age of 5 years travel free on local bus services.

Children aged between 5 years and up to 16 years travel for half of the adult fare.

Internal Air Services

Children up to 2 years old and not occupying a seat travel free on internal flights. This is limited to one child per adult passenger.

Children from 2 years to 11 years old travel for 50% of the adult passenger fare.

Young people from 12 years to 24 years old travel for 75% of the adult fare.

Further discounts are available for return bookings for those resident on Foula, Fair Isle, Skerries and Papa Stour.

External Ferry Service (Lerwick to Kirkwall/Aberdeen)

Shetland residents holding a National Entitlement Card (bus pass with the Clickimin Broch on the reverse) will receive 4 ferry vouchers providing 4 single journeys to/from the mainland.

Each ferry voucher will entitle the card holder to foot passage and a berth (in a shared cabin). Berths will only be allocated on overnight services.

Exclusive use of a cabin is not included within the entitlement, however it may be possible to upgrade to an exclusive cabin by paying the difference, subject to cabin availability.

Two ferry voucher holders travelling together can request to be allocated berths in the same cabin, this should be done at the time of booking.

External Air Services

The Air Discount Scheme (ADS) provides Shetland residents with a discount of 40% on the air fare (before taxes) on eligible routes (Sumburgh to/from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness).

There are no restrictions to the number of flights and discounts are applicable for both single and return journeys.

Bookings can be made online through www.flybe.com/ads and your ADS number and PIN must be provided at the time of booking.
