Inter Island Ferries Return to Full Timetable

17 July 2020

On Monday 20th July the Council will be taking the next steps in modifying inter island ferry timetables to reflect Scottish Government’s COVID Route Map when it reintroduces the late evening services usually seen at this time of year in Shetland.

The requirement to book journeys will be relaxed with a return to the practice of ‘bookings only’ limited to the late evening services on Yell Sound, Bluemull Sound and Whalsay and no requirement to book any services on the Bressay service.

Although booking of all services will no longer be mandatory, continuing the practice is encouraged and supports good travel planning and management of capacity on the vessels.

The Council is working to introduce contactless payment facilities on all ferries and this will be done as soon as practically possible. In the meantime the current account based system remains in place and its continued use is encouraged.

The timetables that will take effect from Monday 20th July are available for bookings on the Council’s Ferry Services webpage.
